School Counseling Week 2013
National School Counseling Week, sponsored by the American School Counselor Association (ASCA),will be recognized from February 4 – 8th, 2013, to focus public attention on the unique contribution of professional school counselors and to celebrate the tremendous impact school counselors can have in helping students achieve school success.
The special week honors school counselors by recognizing professionals who have implemented comprehensive school counseling programs which actively engage students to examine their abilities, strengths, interests, and talents; work in partnership with parents as they encounter the challenges of raising children; and support teachers and other educators in providing an educational system where students can realize their potential.
More than 30,000 school counselors nationwide will be participating in the week’s festivities. Many school counselors will be hosting special events and activities to call attention to the important role school counselors play within school systems.
